Etchings with aquatint. A series of prints that were exhibited at Seal Chart Etching Studio in Seal, Kent in June 2023.
This series is defined by bands of colour that shape forms in space while inviting light to envelop these pictorial compositions. The use and chronology of colour create diverse scenarios of strong physical presence. The unyielding geometrics of the etchings and the defined use of shapes of colour convey a sense of control and order.
This body of work is in essence an emphasis on structure and solidity as a manifestation of clarity and control. Although unyielding, the geometry of the work conveys a sense of reassuring order and summons calming feelings at times when the mind is drowning with chaos.
Finally, this work is an ode to etching and its vitality and adaptability as a medium for abstraction.
